Oconomowoc Montessori is a private, independent, non-profit school for children ages 18 months to 6 years, regardless of race, creed or sex.  The school has a board of directors and is operated by the executive director and staff. Currently, the school is supported by tuition, before and after school programs, fund raising events and donations.

The school was founded in September of 2007 with the goal of providing affordable, quality, authentic Montessori education to the community of Wales, under the name of Little Lambs Montessori. 

On June 1, 2009, the school moved to the town of Oconomowoc so that we can grow and provide excellent Montessori education to more communities in the lake country area.   Since Oconomowoc already has a Little Lambs preschool we decided to change our name to avoid confusion.  We are not affiliated with them or any other organization.

On September 7, 2010 we will be opening Pewaukee Lake Montessori Academy in the town of Delafield.
  

We believe that all children deserve love, attention, and nurturing in a safe environment which allows them to explore and grow.   Montessori education allows children to have a hands-on learning experience which fosters age appropriate development. We are truly a home away from home for children. We create a warm, nurturing, child-centered, classroom environment where the children develop independence, respect, creativity and a strong sense of self. This carefully and thoughtfully prepared environment constantly stimulates the child’s natural desire to learn and explore through the use of durable and inviting hands-on learning materials.

We offer a world-class education of the mind, intrinsically intertwined with a nurturing of the heart that propels children to be all that they can be. Children learn at their own pace according to their individual needs with guidance from Montessori trained and certified teachers. By removing barriers to learning, we find the children’s rapid development often astonishes us.

In our Montessori multi-aged classroom every child has the opportunity to experience the benefits of each level in turn, developing the skills to both lead and be led – skills that will serve your child for a life time.

We read to the children everyday. We take them outside every day, weather permitting.  We believe that positive reinforcement is important for children to develop self confidence. Children need an environment that supports free expression and stimulates learning. At Oconomowoc Montessori we will make sure that your child is involved in stimulating activities everyday.

Most importantly, we believe that children need to have fun while they are learning!

We never label children and believe that each child is an individual and we guide them to develop in their areas of strengths and weaknesses.

We recognize that parents may have difficult schedules and we try and support them as best we can.  We offer before and after school programs and are open between the hours of 6:00 a.m. and 6:00 p.m. 

All of our teachers go through a screening process and have degrees in child development and education.
